Description
This phenomenal rock art panel, consisting mostly of Fremont-style petroglyphs, can be found approximately 15 miles south of the small town of Ferron, Utah. Reached by an easy 1/2 mile hike, the panel rivals the size and complexity of the better-known Newspaper Rock, near the Needles section of Canyonlands National Park. Of the animals depicted in the Rochester Panel, the top figure, at approximately 10 o'clock, is the most perplexing. Is it a bear with a tail (which can happen), or something else? Feral pigs did not inhabit Utah at the time this panel was carved.
