Description
Perched at the southern tip of San Juan Island, the Cattle Point Lighthouse has stood as a maritime sentinel since 1935. However, its history dates back to 1888 when a simple lens lantern was first placed here to guide sailors through the treacherous waters of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. This photograph captures the lighthouse's enduring presence against the backdrop of the Salish Sea, highlighting its architectural features and the rugged coastal terrain. The lighthouse's silhouette evokes a sense of continuity and connection to the past, embodying the essence of the Historical category.
