Description

At the edge of a neighborhood in Northeast DC, Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens sits inconspicuously. Each year, they host the Lotus and Water Lily Festival. As the name suggests, there are hundreds of lotuses and lilies blooming at the same time. We visited on the hottest day of the year, so the native lilies were closing up in the mid-day sun. The exotic lilies, though, were still in full bloom. The harsh light made the colors of the lily stand out against the dark water.
