Description

The sun was starting to set as I was driving on one of the small gravel off-roads in Badlands National Park. My friend saw something move a short distance from the road and said "stop!". We got out and walked out into a prairie dog community to find a badger! Neither one of us had ever seen one in the wild before. It appears they live amongst prairie dogs and then eat their neighbors! This badger appeared from a den opening with a prairie dog in its mouth.
