Description

Katmai blew my mind. I had expected to go, see some bears and get a few reasonable photos. I had not expected to fall in love with the place. When I was there, the salmon were running well and bears were everywhere. When there, you are really able to watch bear behavior up close. This bear had become adept at catching salmon by standing above the falls. This was not a preferred position; the dominant bears were below him under the falls but he was pretty good at it!
