Description

Visiting Katmai National Park could be considered a trip of a lifetime. It's incredible to witness the salmon run in this way, sustaining an entire ecosystem, with brown bears (everywhere!) negotiating territory and other obstacles to bulk up and prepare for the winter. Watching the bears perched atop Brooks Falls, catching salmon mid-air, leaves me completely awestruck and respectful of these amazing creatures. Here's a pic I snapped of my favorite fisherman, "Lefty" (775).
