Description

Rocky Mountain Bristlecone Pine (Pinus aristata)
Windblown bristlecone pines grow at higher elevations and are native to the Rocky Mountains. Each long-lived tree has a gnarled trunk and is uniquely shaped by harsh subalpine weather conditions. Early morning light is an ideal time of day to photograph the pines when the bark glows in values of burnt orange color.
