Description

Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail, Great Smoky Mountains National Park: In May 2017, I stopped and set up my tripod in the middle of the Roaring Fork to photograph the tumbling waters and returned to my car, only to find a small ‘bear jam’ of a half dozen cars. I was advised by another visitor that as I composed my photos, an adult black bear (their frequent presence and level of habituation at Great Smoky is well documented) had been milling about behind me. I guess when you’re focused.
