Description

Mount Clark (11,527 feet) is a granite peak located in the Yosemite National Park, California. It is named in honor of Galen Clark. Upon his discovery of the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias, he wrote about protecting the grove to friends and the US Congress. The act for the Yosemite Grant was signed into law by President Lincoln, which was the first of its kind. The legislation was to protect Yosemite for "public use, resort and recreation to be left inalienable for all time."
