Description

Springtime at Washington's Headquarters. I grew up close to Valley Forge and spent many happy days exploring the park as a child. My seventh generation great grandfather spent the 1777-1778 winter here with the Continental Army when thousands of soldiers died in the dire conditions from disease and exposure. George Washington spent that winter in this house with other officers and his wife, Martha. I imagine their relief when the spring brought hope and renewal.
