Description
My sister and I were on our way to Thermopolis, WY, and wanted to get a little hike, so we hoped to track down a nature trail we had spotted on a map, and also check out the supposed "ghost town" of Pearl, Colorado. We saw what looked like a trail sign off to our right and doubled back in the car, taking a sketchy dirt road, when I saw something in the middle of the road ahead. We stopped immediately, and I started shooting with my Nikon (always in the front seat, just in case!) The animal came toward us for a while, then disappeared up the slope to my right. I rolled down the window and scanned the slopes, a scrubby area that had been logged in the past. I was stunned to see this beautiful face staring back at me. A first for me in the wild, and a once-in-a-lifetime sighting.
