Description
The setting sun is reflected in the Alviso Salt Ponds at the southern end of San Francisco Bay. Salt was harvested here for centuries, originally by the Ohlone people. Commercial production began in the 1850s, and now many of the old ponds are being transitioned back into tidal wetlands. Taken June 22, 2025.
