Description

Dry Tortugas NP was a fascinating destination. Located 70 miles West of Key West, FL, the journey to get there is well worth seeing this historic fort, first used to protect trade routes, and later used as a prison for captured Confederate soldiers, then for the conspirators in the Lincoln assassination, including Dr. Mudd. The Fort is large and interesting, and we saw nesting Frigate birds. There is also snorkeling and camping available on site.
