Grand Teton National Park

We encountered a herd of Bison in the area of Elk Ranch Flats turnout on September 19, 2021. The herd was grazing peacefully about 30 yards from the roadway with a number of park visitors stopped taking photos. I was photographing this bull from across the road when one visitor attempting to take a selfie with the herd behind him approached a grazing calf. The bull's demeanor instantly changed, eyes furrowed and locked on the photographer. The bull moved to shield the calf from the encroaching visitor and stood guard with eyes locked on the offending party until he returned to his vehicle.
