Moose at Blue Hour
A stunning portrait of a moose captured during blue hour. The majestic nature of this massive animal is reinforced by the powerful Teton Mountains in the background.
To get this shot I braved chilly rain past sunset, when all other photographers had left, and followed along with the moose (at a respectable distance of over 75 feet). Keeping low to the ground to silhouette the moose against the sky, I had to find patches where the sage brush wasn't as high in order to avoid sticks from blocking the shot. I also worked hard to align the mountains. It was challenging to navigate the sage roots, they easily trip you up like a bowl of spaghetti.
