Description

This rock formation in southern Utah is called Factory Butte, named by early settlers who thought its outline resembled a huge factory building. The intense color differences highlighted in this photo showcase the diversity of the epic landscape, which shrinks everything else around it into insignificance — coal, clay, sandstone, and shale make up this prominent peak and the badlands that surround it.
