Description

The 250 ton granite Private Soldier Monument is the centerpiece of the beautiful Antietam National Cemetery and looks down over the graves of ~4,000 Union soldiers who died at the Battle of Antietam in 1862.
My husband and I took a break from hiking the Appalachian Trail in Maryland to visit this beautiful holy ground at sunrise.
