Description

After initially seeing this great gray owl perched in the open branch, he flew up to a scraggly pine tree in the middle of the meadow. I expected him to start hunting more, but he simply sat on the tree, seemingly content to soak in the rays of the rising sun. As more and more time passed, the owl began to close his eyes and start sleeping. After over an hour waiting, and the clouds having eclipsed the sun, we decided to go in search of other owls. As I began to pack however, I noticed the owl suddenly opening his eyes, intently staring at the floor of the meadow.

Less than 10 seconds later, he was off his perch and floating mid-air, in hopes of catching whatever rodent was below him. He dived face first in to the meadow, but unfortunately, this attempt was unsuccessful for him. I, however, was thrilled to get a flight sequence after waiting for so long.
