A Tilted Lotus Flower in Full Bloom. The Carpellary Receptacle is visible through a gap where one petal has turned down. The lotus plant is native to India, Indochina, and East Asia. It is sacred to Hindus and Buddhists. Kenilworth Park & Aquatic Gardens, which is next to the Anacostia River and has ponds, lotus flowers, and a marsh, is a great place to experience nature in urban Washington, D.C.
