Description

Watching the salmon run and bears fishing in Alaska is like nothing else in the world. This brown bear would patiently wait for a salmon to start making its way through the shallow water. The second it would see the fish splash it would be off and running through the water at full speed. Chaos would ensue and more often then not, the fish would escape. Every so often the bear would come up victorious and proudly walk its catch to the shore to feast. In this photo, a storm was brewing on the horizon and added the perfect "mood" to the photo. This bear, only concerned with eating its catch, walked to within 20 feet of me and plopped down to eat the fish. In a matter of minutes the fish was gone and the bear was on his way after another meal. In order to capture this unique angle, I would lie in the sand and shallow water.
