Description

Reflections of the Monocacy Aqueduct in the Monocacy River, Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park. The C&O Canal system has eleven aqueducts that carried the canal across the major river tributaries that flow into the Potomac River along the route of the canal. The Monocacy Aqueduct, which was built in 1833, is the largest of the aqueducts and many historians describe it as one of the finest canal features in the U.S.
