Description

It was an unexpectedly hot day in Whittier, Alaska. After a several-mile hike which began from our campground, we had reached our destination. Sweaty and exhausted, we stepped onto the gravel shore, drawn to the crystal blue waters of Portage Lake. We weaved through vibrant patches of yellow monkeyflower and pink willowherbs before arriving at the water's edge. We welcomed the cool air radiating off the glacier, as we sat absolutely awestricken by the beauty.
