Description

Great Blue Heron in Lotus Pond. This immature great blue heron appeared to be stalking fish swimming in the pond. Lotus leaves have been used to make tea and to wrap rice and other dishes in Asian cuisine. Kenilworth Park & Aquatic Gardens, which is next to the Anacostia River and has ponds, lotus flowers, and a marsh, is a great place to experience nature in urban Washington, D.C.
