The historic Point Reyes Lifeboat Station leads one to look at the play of complementary colors in the shallow waters of Drake's Bay and in the clouds that portend an even more dramatic and fiery sunset. According the National Park Service's history of the structure, the crews that lived and worked in the Lifeboat Station assisted 45 vessels, including three major shipwrecks within just the first decade of its operation. The Lifeboat Station became a National Historic Landmark in 1990.
