Description

I was out exploring an unpaved road and came around a bend to the sight of towering spires and domes. I later identified this location in Pike National Forest as Cathedral Park, sculptured with rocks that form Colorado’s youngest granitic batholith. The access road traces the history of an early 1900s railroad that had connected Colorado Springs to the gold mining town of Cripple Creek. While Cathedral Park is within Pike National Forest the road I traveled crosses parcels of private property.
