Description

Just north of Juneau, Alaska, the Mendenhall Glacier spills down from the ice fields of the Juneau Icecap, feeding the azure waters of Mendenhall Lake. One of the crown jewels of the USFS system, the area includes a wonderful campground and visitor center. For those properly prepared to make the journey, the ice caves beneath the glacier are a phantasmagoric experience: a strange blue world of surreal sculptural forms.
