Description

Even long into spring you can expect Zapata Falls to be at least partially frozen. The smooth, glossy left cascade stands in stark contrast with the raging right one. Known just as much for the treacherous drive to reach the trailhead as the perilous hike up Zapata Creek to reach the falls, Zapata is formed by snowmelt from the Sangre de Cristo mountain range in Colorado.
