Description

Snorkeling the riffles. A coastal brown bear fishes for salmon in the riffles below Brooks Falls. Bears come here each summer to gorge on the plentiful salmon. Some stand at the falls and grab the fish out of the air. This one opted to hold perfectly still in the rushing water and watch for fish to swim past. Tripods were not allowed so I had to shoot this handheld, bracing myself as best I could for an exposure just long enough to show the motion in the water but not in the bear.
